The St. Michael School
Handbook outlines the policies of the school which follow both
Archdiocesan and State policies and also incorporates local
regulations.
Located in the culturally diverse area of
South Chicago, St. Michael School seeks to provide children with an
opportunity to develop a strong Catholic Faith and receive a quality
education. We accomplish this through collaboration with parents, our
multi-cultural parish, and the local community. We believe that:
- Our purpose as a school community
is to pass on the Gospel faith rooted in the tradition of the
Catholic Church. We work together with families to foster and
develop this faith in the daily lives of the students.
- Each person possesses unique gifts
and talents. We respect and nurture these gifts in each child as we
work to develop the whole person.
- Parents are the primary educators
of their children. With their help, we provide quality education,
preparing our students to be responsive to the present and future
needs of the Church and community.
- Learning is a life-long process for
both children and adults that requires positive attitudes. We
therefore provide experiences in an enjoyable, creative, and
disciplined environment that will enhance and develop the spiritual,
academic, physical, emotional, and social potential of each family.
- We gather as God’s family in prayer
and action, knowing that we are cared for by the love of God, the
support of one another, and the faith parish community. Strengthened
by prayer, we seek to accomplish our mission at St. Michael School.
